Memorial to Master Joseph Kelljchian. Rest in Peace, Sensei.

Master Joseph Kelljchian was given the name “The Rock” and the “American Bushido”

Master Kelljchian was a master karateka and gave us many weapons katas and combative technology including the Katana, Nunchaku, Escrima, Sai, Bo, Oar and Tonfa. He created an in depth syllabus of GOJU training for empty hand self defense, defense against weapons, women’s self defense, kata, personal fitness, and so much more.

Master Kelljchian’s strength and fighting spirit will live on because of the deep legacy he left behind in the form of the USA GOJU Federation.

Master Kelljchian promoted over 300 black belts throughout his career as a martial arts instructor. This picture shows five generations of black belts under Master Kelljchian. He promoted Master Robert Lasorsa (Steadfast Fire) who then promoted Master David Schopp (The Staunch Fox). Master Schopp promoted Sensei Andrew Proctor (The Volcano) who promoted Sensei Sherry Proctor (The Mink). The depth of the USAGF Ryu is a tribute to the influence and teachings of Master Kelljchian.

I trained with many of you years ago when I was a young teenage girl living in Weston. Since then I have moved around the world and continued studying various forms of Karate. I am so sad to hear of Master Kelljchian’s passing. May he Rest In Peace.

I studied in the fire station in Cooper City in the 90s at hall 25. I’ve been looking for the missing piece from what I studied in Florida but haven’t found it. Master Kelljchian was such an amazing person. He will be missed

Master Kelljchian’s legacy continues to endure in many dojos of the USAGF around South Florida. You’re always welcome to train with us in Weston.

I was so sad to learn of Master Kelljchian’s passing just today.

Master Kelljchian was truly an inspiration to my three children, Adam, Jason and Sabrina. He instilled in them to be respectful, to be goal oriented and to be focused. These three attributes has sustained them to this day.
